Menopause is a natural changing process in a woman’s life. It marks the beginning of a new chapter. Women experience a variety of symptoms during the “menopausal” years

Although some lucky women seem to sail right through with no issues at all, for others the change can be very unpredictable and uncomfortable. Essential oils can be of benefit because of soothing, balancing effect on both body and emotions.

Aromatherapy acts by stimulating the activity of specific brain cells that naturally influence a woman’s endocrine system which can lead to relief of menopausal symptoms. Whether menopause has occurred through surgery, or as part of our natural aging process, essential oils can be a complement to nearly any health concern you have and can provide relief from the symptoms of menopause.

Clary Sage is the most effective oil to offer relief of menopausal symptoms. Studies show it helps lower cortisol levels as well as balances estrogen production in the body and is effective in alleviating a wide array of female conditions ( PMS, menstrual cramps, etc ).

Geranium is effective for balancing emotions when feeling depressed, irritable, mood swings. It is also great for hot flashes, night sweats and dry skin.

Peppermint is great to have around to cool the body of hot flashes, it is cool and fresh on the skin. To relieve headaches and fatigue combine 5 drops of peppermint to 5 drops lavender in your diffuser. Another way I found effective is to soak your feet in warm to cool water for 10 minutes with peppermint, not only does it cool you down but also gives you the energy boost when tired.

Lemon when added to the diffuser, is very uplifting and a natural stimulant great in reducing mental fatigue, anxiety, hot flashes and depression.

Lavender and Ylang Ylang both known for their balancing and calming effect also reduces anxiety as well as mood swings. These oils are great as a massage or in a bath and have sedative properties.
