The oil from Ylang-Ylang pronounced (ee-lang- ee-lang) is widely used in perfumery for oriental or floral themed perfumes (such as Chanel No. 5). Ylang-Ylang blends well with most floral, fruit and wood scents.
In Indonesia, the flowers of Ylang Ylang are ceremoniously spread over the beds of newlyweds as a wish of good luck and fertility.
In the Philippines, its flowers, together with the flowers of the Sampaguita, are strung into a necklace (lei) and worn by women and used to adorn religious images.
The French chemists Garnier and Rechler recognized Ylang Ylang’s medicinal properties at the beginning of the twentieth century with their research on the island of Reunion where they found Ylang Ylang to be effective against malaria, typhus and infections of the intestinal tract as well as the calming effect on the heart.
It Soothes and calms the spirit and body while creating a sense of well-being. Ylang Ylang is believed to relieve high blood pressure, anxiety and stress.

Ways to use:
Diffuser: Combine with any Bergamot, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lavender for a great room atmosphere. Ylang Ylang is also a wonderful choice if you are looking to improve the quality of your sleep and is part of our SleepWell Blend.
Massage: Blend geranium with Ylang Ylang with unscented carrier oil.
Uplifting bath: Add 4 drops to full bath or blend with unscented bath oil base. Strengthens the nervous system while providing relief from stress and anxiety.
Steam Facial: Moisturize and cleanse your face by adding 4 drops to steam facial. Add 2 drops to your daily moisturizer, will keep your skin looking hydrated young and smooth.
Bed Linen: Add 5 drops to tissue or fabric, add to the dryer during laundering or place in linen closet.
Precautions: Highly concentrated amounts can cause headaches and nausea. Avoid using with low blood pressure. Avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy.
